Beach Towel Ministry is a youth oriented ministry that specializes in housing repair and refurbishment for the elderly, physically challenged, and economically disadvantaged.  Teams of youth and qualified adults spread the Good News of the Gospel by participating in work projects, such as building handicap access ramps, painting, roofing, weatherproofing, and other needed housing repairs.

This ministry, started by the late Deacon Chris Greer and Fr. Gene McDowell over 30 years ago in the Diocese of Western NC, and bought to the Diocese of East Carolina as “Beach Towel Ministry” by Fr. Bert and Carol Eaton is a way for young people to put the Gospel into practical application in hands on ministry.

This process of walking the talk takes the form currently of week long summer work camps in counties in the Diocese of East Carolina.

Why is it called Towel Ministry?  As Jesus wrapped a towel around his waist and washed his disciples feet, he came not to be served but to serve.  Like Jesus we also come to serve others.

Our week at “Beach Towel Camp” includes morning and evening worship, a healing service, evening programs, outdoor labyrinth walk, beach trips, pool party, movies, and sunset reflections by the White Oak River in Swansboro.
