Welcome to St. Peter's
Swansboro, NC
A Parish in the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina
Welcome!
Welcome to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, located in the heart of the friendly city by the sea. We are an inclusive community that affirms the dignity of all people. We are imperfect people striving together to love God and love our neighbors the way Jesus taught us. We hope you will join us for worship, connect with us in fellowship, grow with us in study, and serve the community through outreach. All are welcome at St. Peter's!

Join us for a candlelit night of music and prayer in the Taizé tradition tonight in the sanctuary. The music of Taizé is a repetitive singing of prayer chants that focus on simple phrases, often from Scripture, sung in canon. The repetitiveness of the music and prayer creates a meditative prayer experience. The overall service is broken up into elements of psalms, scripture readings, prayer intercessions, and time for silent reflection.

Introducing Olaf, the newest addition to St. Peter’s! 🤣 ⛄️
As our outdoor blessing box has become very utilized over the last few months, we plan to start filling this new freezer with meals for those who are sick, without a home, or who have come on hard times. Be on the lookout for cooking days to be advertised soon! @swansboronc #loveyourneighbor #feedpeople

The church buildings will be closed again tomorrow, to include all evening community groups that meet on Thursdays at St. Peter's. We will continue to monitor the weather. Stay safe and warm, and keep our neighbors without homes or power in your prayers. If you know someone without food who can walk to the church, some church angels restocked the blessing box this morning.
The Epiphany January 6
O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the Peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen. (Book of Common Prayer)
Here’s a great at home blessing for chalking your doors:

Almighty God, you have given your only-begotten Son to take our nature upon him, and to be born this day of a pure virgin: Grant that we, who have been born again and made your children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by your Holy Spirit; through our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom with you and the same Spirit be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Join us for our service of The Longest Night (sometimes called Blue Christmas) on Wednesday at 6pm. This candlelit service of prayer and Eucharist is near the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. This time of year can often feel heavy, like a long night of the soul. This service provides space for you to bring your feelings and lay your burdens before God. You are not alone during this season. Come pray and embrace the light amidst the darkness.
Dear Sister,
make peace
with all the women
you once were
lay flowers
at their feet
offer them incense
and honey
and forgiveness
honor them
and give them
your silence
listen.
bless them
and let them be.
for they are the bones
of the temple
you sit in now.
for they are
the rivers
of wisdom
leading you toward
the sea.

Please keep everyone in Helene’s path in prayer, and especially those parishioners who are living in its path right now. We lift up Claire, Kaigan, Mika, Kathy and Bill, and our family and friends tonight. 🙏
Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love’s sake. Amen.
